Extracting, Tracking and Visualizing Vortices in 3D Complex-Valued Superconductor Simulation Data

چکیده
We propose a unified method for the analytically exact vortex extraction and tracking of superconducting magnetic flux vortices for both structured and unstructured mesh data. In the Ginzburg-Landau theory, magnetic flux vortices are well-defined features in a complex-valued order parameter field, and their dynamics determine electromagnetic properties in type-II superconductors. Our method represents each vortex line (a 1D curve embedded in 3D space) as a connected graph extracted from the discretized field in both space and time. This method, which uses no approximations, represents the most exact tracking that can be performed on a set of curves in a time-varying discretized complex scalar field. We then apply 3D visualization and 2D event diagrams to the extraction and tracking results to help scientists understand vortex dynamics and macroscale superconductor behavior in greater detail than previously possible.

Detecting vortices in superconductors: extracting one-dimensional topological singularities from a discretized complex scalar field.
In type II superconductors, the dynamics of superconducting vortices determine their transport properties. In the Ginzburg-Landau theory, vortices correspond to topological defects in the complex order parameter. Extracting their precise positions and motion from discretized numerical simulation data is an important, but challenging, task. In the past, vortices have mostly been detected by anal...
متن کاملVisualization of the Vortex Dynamics in a Type-II Superconductor in a Periodic Dissipative State
Using state-of-the-art analytic techniques for extracting a singularity from a complex field, we can visualize the vortices in the largest time-dependent Ginsburg Landau simulation of a superconductor performed to date. Our visualization reveals the internal dynamics of the vortices in the superconductor, explaining the cause of a voltage spike in the electro-magnetic response of the system. Th...
متن کاملInvestigation of electrokinetic mixing in 3D non-homogenous microchannels
A numerical study of 3D electrokinetic flows through micromixers was performed. The micromixers considered here consisted of heterogeneous rectangular microchannels with prescribed patterns of zeta-potential at their walls. Numerical simulation of electroosmotic flows within heterogeneous channels requires solution of the Navier-Stokes, Ernest-Plank and species concentration equations. It is kn...
متن کاملComplex-Valued Data Envelopment Analysis
Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is a nonparametric approach for measuring the relative efficiency of a decision making units consists of multiple inputs and outputs. In all standard DEA models semi positive real valued measures are assumed, while in some real cases inputs and outputs may take complex valued. The question is related to measuring efficiency in such cases. As far as we are aware, ...
متن کاملNon-integer flux quanta for a spherical superconductor
A thin film superconductor shaped into a spherical shell at whose center lies the end of long thin solenoid in which there is an integer flux NΦ0 has been previously extensively studied numerically as a model of a two-dimensional superconductor. The emergent flux from the solenoid produces a radial Bfield at the superconducting shell and N vortices in the superconducting film. We study here the...
